Port Fail F.C. 9 - 5 Olympus Moon

Port Fail's long awaited Championship fixture against Olympus Moon finally occurred yesterday (Thursday) and the excitement of the fans could be heard around the ground. Although, we were forced to play the fixture without 'keeper Dan Dix whos grazed knee looks to have kept him out for the remainder of the season.

The game was fairly evenly balanced but the clinical finishing of Fail and most notably striker Ross Legg whos four goals proved the difference between the sides. Ben Alfrey's simple finish into the corner of the goal after being sent through one-on-one by Legg was his first for the season. This was soon followed by a flourish from Legg, 2 quality strikes from midfielder Jack Hope and a thunderbolt from Cowley, who has now knocked up a goal in every fixture keeping him dead on form. This was capped off by an own goal, bad times for Moon.

The excitement of the surrounding fans was taken a step to far when security was breached as three fans ran on to the pitch, pick-pocketing Jonny Cowley of his phone in the process whilst play was taking place. Cowley was quick to scare the fans back into handing his phone back over who were then escorted from the ground and look to face a ban in the near future.

Magical Unicorns Of Ghana 3:4 Port Fail F.C.

A hat-trick on debut from Ross Legg and a goal from Jonny Cowley was just about enough for Port Fail to come out on top in a closely fought and truly controversial first game against Ghana.

The Navy blues endured a torrid first half that saw them trailing 2-0 at the break but a rallied cry from both the captain Jack Hope and the visiting support helped them overcome the two goal deficit to run out 3-4 winners at Horsham Park.

The home team got off to a flying start after appeals for offside were turned down and the ball being slotted through the legs of Dan Dix for 1-0. Dix was then arguably at fault for the second goal as he brought down the goal hungry Ghanaian striker in the box, whom picked himself up to slot home Ghana's second in a matter of minutes.

A truly inspired performance from Connor Ray and Ross Legg saw the game turned on its' head when Jack Hope latched on to a mistake in the defence to set up clinical striker Ross Legg for his first. The equaliser came from a Ben Alfrey sprint in to the box with his teasing ball into the box being found by Jonny Cowley who slotted home. The nerves in the Ghanaians proved decisive in the third goal for the Fail as a simple pass back to their keeper resulted in an interception by Legg who rounded the goalie to head into the back of the net. Arguable M.O.M and rock at the back Connor Ray saved Port Fail on a number of occasions including a moment late on when intercepting the ball as we looked to have conceded our third late on in the game. Although, this brief joy soon turned to disappointment as the fatigue of the Port Fail side saw a lapse in concentration at the back resulting in Ghana scoring their third and the game look set to be all square. Then, in the dying seconds, Legg hit a rocket that flew into the corner of the net and sent joy to the players, management and fans of Port Fail F.C.
